East Washington Place is a proposed mixed-use urban infill project amid community shopping at the southwest corner of Highway 101 and East Washington Street.

Consistent with local and regional infill planning efforts, this “green” project will incorporate solar power with state-of-the-art energy efficiency and water conservation measures while emphasizing pedestrian and bicycle connectivity. Based on community input, Regency Centers will be revising the original plan and continues to seek ideas on how to best reflect Petaluma’s values in the project. The community shopping complex features a Target store that offers local shopping at an accessible location.

As part of its commitment to the community, Regency’s investment in the project funded the reconstruction of Kenilworth Junior High School. Regency has also worked with community groups, including Petaluma National Little League. Since 2004, Regency has funded maintenance of Carter Fields, providing a place for youth baseball until the new fields at Petaluma Junior High are built. Local project partners include CSW/Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group and Midstate Construction. East Washington Place’s public art component, by Seyed Alavi, will feature an original artwork integrating the history and culture of the people of Petaluma, as well as a public poetry project orchestrated by Geri Digiorno.
